CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT
Citizenship by investment programmes allow credible individuals, with legitimate financial means to fast track their naturalisation in a foreign country. Once naturalised, these “economic citizens” usually acquire lifetime citizenship and the rights and privileges of natural-born citizens.
Since 2013, Grenada’s citizenship by investment programme has been transforming the lives of individuals by increasing their global mobility, improving their wealth management, and providing access to key treaties, such as the US E2 Visa Treaty, CARICOM, and the OECS.
MANAGEMENT AND STRUCTURE
In Grenada, the Citizenship by Investment Programme is governed by the Citizenship by Investment Act, 2013, which places management of the programme under the auspices of the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Unit.
The Unit is directed by the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Committee. This seven-man committee – headed by a chairman – is responsible for overseeing the processing of citizenship and project applications, and reports recommendations to the government minister in charge. All power to approve, delay, or deny applications for citizenship and projects, resides in the hands of the government minister.
